The cannabis industry is constantly changing, and we’re excited to catch up with industry leaders, elected officials, doctors, lawyers, and regulators at the two-day inaugural State of Cannabis conference on September 28 and 29, 2017. The conference will include speakers, panels, and workshops to educate audiences on innovations within the industry, as well as plenty of opportunities for networking. The conference isn’t all play though — State of Cannabis sets itself apart by offering attendees access to cannabis consumption on their large outdoor patio.
Lori Ajax, Chief of the Bureau of Cannabis Control, will deliver the keynote speech on day one of the conference. The BCC has facilitated countless stakeholder meetings across California to ease communication during the regulatory process and we’re so excited to hear her unique insights. After Ajax kicks off the conference, we’ll launch into a full day of workshops and panels, including “CA Cannabis Regulations and Regulators”, “Adult Use, Medical & the Black Market”, “ZigZag Through a Patchwork of Local Cannabis Laws”, “WAR STORIES: The Politics of Passing the Governor’s Trailer Bill”, and “Cannabis & the Media.” Guests will then be treated to a lovely reception dinner followed by an after party mixer from 8pm to midnight.
The second day of the conference will focus heavily on on the Emergency Regulations that are expected to drop at the same time as the conference. The passage of the Trailer Bill SB 94 has altered many rules governing cannabis regulation and reconciled Prop. 64 with the Medical Marijuana Act. All three state licensing authorities, the Department of Consumer Affairs’ Bureau of Cannabis Control, the Department of Public Health and the Department of Food and Agriculture, have withdrawn their proposed regulations for medical marijuana. The Emergency Regulations will create a single regulatory system for both the medicinal and adult use cannabis industries. The conference will host a series of related panels and workshops, with Congressman Dana Rohrabacher delivering the closing keynote address.
